Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to £34 million to sign Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba, with the highly rated French youngster set to become the club's fourth signing of the summer.
The 20-year-old is expected on Tyneside on Thursday to complete a medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

Bamba arrives as Newcastle continue to reshape their midfield following Sandro Tonali leaving for Tottenham last month.
After already securing the signing of 18-year-old Sean Steur from Ajax, the Magpies have again opted to invest in one of Europe's brightest young talents.
Newcastle had also shown interest in Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi before he chose to join Aston Villa.

Bamba only made his senior Monaco debut in August 2025 but quickly established himself as one of Ligue 1's most promising midfielders.
Among players who featured for at least 500 minutes last season, he ranked among the league's top performers for duels won, tackles, successful take-ons and aerial duels won.
Long-term project at St James' Park
The move highlights Newcastle's changing transfer strategy, with the club prioritising younger players with high potential rather than established stars.
Bamba joins fellow youngsters Sean Steur, Ewen Jaouen and Bazoumana Toure as part of the club's long-term rebuild.
Although the French midfielder has made just 12 competitive starts for Monaco, Newcastle believe securing emerging talent before their value rises further is a worthwhile investment.
Negotiations were conducted discreetly, with news of the agreement only emerging as Bamba travelled to England.
More additions are expected before the transfer window closes, but Newcastle are already well ahead of last summer's recruitment drive, when Anthony Elanga was their only arrival at the same stage of the window.
